1887年,中央書院校長黎璧臣再選六名學生為師範生。為保證他們畢業後留校工作,師範生可獲生活補助,須簽約三年。

In 1887, George Bateson Wright, the Headmaster of The Government Central School, selected six more students to get trained as pupil teachers. To ensure that they would stay and work at the School after graduation, pupil teachers were offered a living subsidy and were required to sign a three-year contract.
