The Government Normal School was attached to the Government Elementary School at 269 Queen’s Road East, Wan Chai.

1881年，總督軒尼詩成立官立師範學堂，為香港最早的全日制師範學校。1883年，官立師範學堂隨着軒尼詩的離任而停辦。
In 1881, Governor Sir John Pope Hennessy established the Government Normal School, the first full-time teacher training school in Hong Kong. In 1883, with Hennessy’s departure, the Government Normal School was closed.
