香港教育學院成立
The Hong Kong Institute of Education established
1996年,教院獲納入大學教育資助委員會資助院校。
In 1996, HKIEd came under the aegis of the University Grants Committee (UGC).
1997年,教院遷入大埔校園。1998年,教院舉行大埔校園啟用典禮。
In 1997, HKIEd moved to its campus in Tai Po. In 1998, HKIEd celebrated the opening ceremony of its Tai Po Campus.
1992年6月,教育統籌委員會建議合併當時五間政府師訓學院,成為一所獨立自主的大專院校。1994年4月25日,教育署屬下的羅富國教育學院、葛量洪教育學院、柏立基教育學院,連同香港工商師範學院和語文教育學院合併組成的香港教育學院正式成立,標誌着香港教師教育展開新的一頁。教院主要提供職前教育證書課程及在職教師培訓課程。1996年,教院獲納入為大學教育資助委員會資助院校,並於翌年遷入位於大埔的新校園。
In June 1992, the Education Commission recommended the amalgamation of the then five government teacher training colleges to form an independent and autonomous tertiary institution. On 25 April 1994, The Hong Kong Institute of Education was established by amalgamating Northcote College of Education, Grantham College of Education, Sir Robert Black College of Education, the Hong Kong Technical Teachers’ College and the Institute of Language in Education under the Education Department, which marked the beginning of a new chapter in Hong Kong’s teacher education. HKIEd mainly provided pre-service Certificate in Education courses and in-service teacher education courses. In 1996, HKIEd came under the aegis of the University Grants Committee (UGC) and moved to the new campus in Tai Po the following year.
